Rural tourism by the beach

Usually, touristic destinations make you choose between mountain and the beach.  Sometimes, though, you don’t need to make up your mind.  You can pack your hiking boots and bring along your towel and sunscreen. Today we’ll list five destinations that can combine the peace and quiet of the countryside with the playfulness of a beach trip.  The first one is in the county of Conca de Barberà (south of Catalonia).  Specifically in Forès, a small town sitting on top of a hill with magnificent panoramic views of the whole region.  In Forès, you will find Cal Duquet, a well-appointed restored country house. Its privileged location permits a full day of activities without having to drive around for hours.  You can go to the beach, have fun in Port Aventura theme park, travel the Cistercian Route or visit the medieval town of Montblanc.

A little further up, in Bellveí del Penedès (county of Baix Penedès), you will find Ca la Florinda, a three-story house that keeps alive the customs of rural life.  In the ground floor they have the Museo del Campo (Museum of the country life) and a recreation room.  Because of its location, this place is ideal for all kinds of activities both sea or mountain-related.  Calafell beach is only two and a half miles away. They are very friendly and prices are competitive.

The beach of Calafell

Another name on the list is Masia Sapera, in the town of Protons, (county of Alt Penedès).  Located just one hour away from Barcelona this country house dates from the seventeenth century. It is surrounded by vineyards and forest and has a splendid garden with barbecue, a wood oven, a winery and beautiful rooms, overlooking the neighboring vineyards. Oh, and an attic full of games for children. So, its ideal if you are looking for some relaxing time or just the total opposite. In which case you can go hiking, biking or simply lay on the beach.

In case you don’t have much time to travel, just 25 minutes away from Barcelona you will find the fourth name on our list: Can Caponet. Located in the town of Lliçà d’Amunt (county of Vallès Oriental), it has a very green environment full of local flora and fauna. Like in the rest of the places we’ve mentioned, it’s a good place to disconnect from the stress of the city. You can choose to relax or shake off the tension on a horseback ride or, why not, get to the Barcelona coastline.

Can Cunill

And last but not least, we want to mention Can Cunill, located in the county of La Selva (northeast of Catalonia). It is a spectacular farmhouse, built in 1,583 that still preserves its original decoration and structure, but with the twenty-first century amenities. You can get there very easily. It’s just two and a half miles from the town of Riudarenes, and…very close to the famous beaches of Costa Brava.

Gracias por este tema. No tenía conocimiento de que hubiera casas rurales en la playa. Habrá que probarlas.
    Felicidades por el blog.
    Un saludo.
