Watching birds in the Delta

October 6 and 7, are World Bird Days in most of the world’s protected natural areas. An occasion used by SEO/Birdlife to increase awareness about these animals, their threats, and what conservation measures must be taken to ensure their survival.

The Natural Park of Delta de l’Ebre celebrates the World Bird Days in style with many activities that help to get to know the wildlife, one of the assets of the park. Definitely worth a visit.

This is the schedule of events organized by the park to mark the World Bird Days:

Saturday, October 6

Visit to the park’s biological station where you can get familiar with the wildlife’s Recovery Center and find out the projects they are doing.

Meeting point: Ecomuseu, at 10 am.

Play and discover the birds. A bird watching game with prizes for those visitors who complete the tour of the three observation points.

Riet Vell Natural Reserve.

11th Birds Festival. Held at the Riet Vell Natural Reserve, includes a great variety of events, from bird ringing to games. Also, the Insect-hotel Riet Vell, a very special hotel that hosts insects beneficial for the agriculture in the Delta de l’Ebre, will be inaugurated.

From 3 pm to 7 pm.

La Tancada al tardet. The monitoring and identification of waterfowl from the Mirador 360º.

From 5 pm to 7 pm.

MónNatura Delta de l’Ebre.

Prices: adults, € 12 / children over 12 years, 7 € (Includes free visit to all areas within MónNatura Delta de l’Ebre).

Sunday, October 7

•  Ornithological trip at the Delta de l’Ebre. Expect to see between 60 and 70 species of birds.

Professor: Cristian Jensen. Guide and bird expert.

Organizer: Picampall

Prices: 20 € members, € 30 non-members. Under 18 years: 15 €.

Bird ringing.

Location: Clot’s bird sanctuary.

Bird watching from the viewpoints of the Park. Staff and volunteers, equipped with optical gear, will be located in several viewpoints to facilitate bird watching and providing information to the visitors.

Places: La Tancada, the Encanyissada, Migjorn, the Olles and Garxal.

Organizers: Natural Parc, with the support of Escola del Parc and the Associació de Voluntaris.

22nd Festival of traditional reaping, in Mas de la Cuixota. An opportunity to witness some traditional techniques to reap rice. Restaurant L’Estany will cook organic rice from Riet Vell.

Location: Mas de la Cuixota. Casa de Fusta.

Time: 10.30 am.

The bird who lost its memory. A family activity to help Laura, the amnesic bird, to find its family. For children aged 4 -10 years.

Time: 12h. Activity duration: 1.5 h

Price: € 10 Children / Adult: 5 € (includes free visits to all areas of Delta de l’Ebre MónNatura). Limited Access.
