Discover the magic of cross-country skiing

The Girona province resort offers up to 45 km of cross-country trails with the best snow conditions.

Guils Fontanera is located in the region of Cerdanya and is a cross-country ski resort which opened in 1993. It is a fantastic place to do sports and enjoy the views of the surrounding peaks and the Cerdanya valley.

This 2011-2012 season Catalan cross-country ski resorts will be using their new digital ticket system for the first time, which is more convenient for skiers and makes it possible to personalise your pass.

Up to 25 trails for different levels

When the resort is fully operational, skiers will be able to choose from 25 trails. They are all separate but at the same time, intertwined: you can go from one to another without difficulty.

The resort is comprised of 45 km of runs with slopes for all types of levels: 6 green, 3 blue, 7 red and one black. This way, both novice and advanced cross-country skiers can make full use of Guils Fontanera and enjoy a good day’s skiing.

In addition, you can do two different styles of cross-country skiing: classic and skating. For classic cross-country skiing there are 45 km available and an additional 8 km circuit for cross-country skating.

Ready to help

The ski resort offers a large selection of activities and services. There is a snowshoe circuit up to 10 km long. There are routes of 3, 5 and 7 km clearly signposted to avoid getting lost and separated from the cross-country slopes to be able to enjoy the mountain without disruption.

You can recharge your batteries at the resort’s bar-restaurant with an a la carte menu where typical Cerdanya dishes can be found such as trinxat, pig’s trotters with turnips and broth, stew, char grilled meat and an under 12’s children’s menu. The bar is open all year round except in June.

Plus Guils Fontanera also has an equipment hire service with 400 sets of classic cross-country skis, 40 sets for skating and up to 100 different pairs of snowshoes to fit both young and adult skiers. In addition, sledges are available for hire so that kids can enjoy themselves in the snow.

The resort also has a school with instructors that accompany skiers around the circuits to show them the best spots. They will give advice to beginners and explain the more technical details to those who wish to improve their style, be it classic or skating.
