Ski resorts: A paradise of amusement for kids
According to experts, the best age to start skiing is when a kid is 5 years old. However when a kid is as young as three years old, he or she can put on a pair of skis and play within the boundaries of the playgrounds of the ski resorts.
Catalan ski resorts have focused on families. So, most have closed areas for children to safely play and take the first steps on skis under the supervision of professional instructors and caretakers.
Different rules apply to each ski resort, like age limits. It is recommended to check the ski resort’s website prior to your arrival.
In addition, some ski resorts like La Molina, Vallter 2000 or Port del Comte have rides like the tubbies – giant rubber rings used to slide down a toboggan – or marked areas for the use of snow sleds, rented or your own. In the ski resorts of Port Ainé and Vall de Núria they also have igloos, a zip-line and a snowquad track, making the kids’ experience much more enjoyable and fun.
Some ski resorts also provide childcare services even after the closing of the drag lifts. Such is the case of ski resort of Boí Taüll where families staying at the resort can leave their children at the Kids Club for free to burn whatever energy they have left before bedtime.
