Ski at Christmas under the moonlight

Skiing under a starry sky is a luxury, and this Christmas Catalan ski resorts want to make it easier for you to enjoy the mountain and the snow under the moonlight. Here’s some of the proposals.

Next Saturday in Bosc Virós there will be the nighttime snowshoe march departing from the mountain refuge Gall Fer.

On December 30 La Molina ski resort hosts the second annual nighttime alpine ski march. Afterwards there’ll be a snack and a raffle. It’ll be a great way to wave the year goodbye. But this is not the only special event they have in store. On Thursday and Friday they will have new equipment from brands Dalbello and Volk, available to all skiers.

Two days later, on January 1, they host the 63rd edition of the children ski downhill race, one of Europe’s oldest competitions for kids under 6. In addition, on Saturday December 29 there is a ski mountaineering time-trial –the VII Crononiu– with World Champions Kilian Jornet and Mireia Miró.

La Masella.

Meanwhile, in La Masella ski resort you will also be able to enjoy some nighttime ski. They host the 4th edition of ‘Semana Catalana de la Nieve’ (Catalan Snow Week), which includes two nocturnal races for kids on December 27 and 28. On this latter date, they celebrate the Skier Women’s Day that honors its female customers with free test of Elan lady skis and with some festive celebrations, of course.

On the 29th, they host the IX Family Championship. Any team can participate, as long as it is formed by at least two members of the same family with season ski pass from the ski resort.

Baqueira Beret.

Baqueira Beret‘s farewell of 2012 includes the traditional torchlight descent, followed by fireworks and a New Year charity concert, to be held at the church of Baqueira.

And finally, next Saturday the ski resort of Vall de Núria organizes a free storytelling afternoon for kids titled “Valentina i la seva àvia” (Valentina and her grandmother).
