Après Ski: When the activity does not end with the closing of the ski lifts

When closing time nears at Catalan ski resorts, there are plenty of options to continue the day if you still have some energy: Sightseeing, adventure sports, partying, explore local gastronomy… or you can also choose relaxing, although is not an obligation.

From this blog we want to suggest different options for every season. Maybe not unique or exclusive, but we hope you find them interesting.

Most skiers want to relax after an intense day up and down the slopes. If you are one of them, you could try the Spa Augusta in the ski resort of Boí Taüll. They offer personalized attention, and have a great deal of treatments and services.

Between Boí Taüll and the ski resort of Espot Esquí you will find the only national park of Catalonia: Aigüestortes National Park, a beautiful setting that hosts many protected species and constitutes an example of our local alpine scenery.

Aigüestortes National Park.

If you are looking for something more active like horse riding, you could head to the town of Sort, just four kilometers away from ski resort of Port Ainé.

If you prefer a more comfortable experience, you can always ride at night on a snow-grooming machine at the ski resort of La Molina. Definitely a new way of getting to know the mountain. Or, if you feel romantic or want a more titillating experience, at the airfield of La Cerdanya, located near Masella, they offer hot air balloon rides on full moon nights.

The beautiful little town of la Coma i la Pedra is near the Port del Comte ski resort. It is worth going for its Romanesque heritage. If you find yourself in Vall de Núria, you must pay a visit to the Sanctuary of the Virgin, a Marian shrine where you can witness a very odd fertility ritual.

However if you feel like going out on the town, Baqueira Beret’s nightlife is legendary. There are three areas: Baqueira, Vielha and Arties. You’ll find a wide variety of bars and clubs… that is, if you still have the energy.

And, although we have not mentioned it, the alpine Catalan cuisine is a treat not to be missed. You can have a taste in any of the restaurants near the ski resorts.
